11 dead, 1,162 injured in road accident through Punjab
The Punjab emergency service (Rescue 1122) responded to 1,099 road traffic accidents (RTC) in the 36 districts of Punjab in the past 24 hours. In these RTCs, 11 people died, while 1173 were injured.
Of these, 662 people were seriously injured and were transferred to different hospitals. While 500 minor injuries were treated at the site of the incident by emergency medical teams, thus reducing the burden on hospitals.
The majority (72%) involved motorcycles, so effective enforcement of traffic laws and track discipline is key to reducing this number and increasing the number of traffic accidents.
In addition, the analysis showed that 493 drivers, 53 underage drivers, 118 pedestrians and 562 passengers were among the victims of these road accidents.
Statistics show that 310 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 309 people placing the provincial capital at the top of the list, followed by 96 in Faisalabad with 11 victims and in third Gujranwala with 72 RTC and 73 victims.
Details further reveal that 1173 victims were affected by road accidents, including 950 men and 223 women, while the age group of victims shows that 225 were under 18, 620 were between 18 and 40 years old. and the remainder of the 328 victims were reported over 40 years of age.
According to the data, 921 motorcycles, 135 auto-rickshaws, 104 automobiles, 27 pickup trucks, 10 passenger buses, 14 trucks and 161 other types of slow moving motor vehicles and forklifts were involved in the aforementioned traffic accidents.
