BMW of North America Reports Third Quarter 2021 U.S. Sales Results

LAKE WOODCLIFF, NJ – (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – BMW of North America today announced sales of 75,619 BMW vehicles in the third quarter of 2021 in the United States, an increase of 8.7% compared to the same period last year. Since the start of the year, sales of the BMW brand have totaled 243,613 vehicles, an increase of 35.4% compared to the first three quarters of 2020.

The company also reported sales of 6,445 MINI vehicles in the third quarter of 2021 in the United States, down 28.9% from the same period last year. Since the start of the year, MINI sales total 22,070, an increase of 12.7% compared to the first three quarters of 2020.

BMW’s US manufacturing operations in Spartanburg, South Carolina continue to play a pivotal role in the company’s success in the first three quarters. The plant produces the BMW X3 and BMW X5, the two best-selling BMW vehicles in the United States, as well as the BMW X4, BMW X6 and BMW X7.

“It has been a difficult year, but our dealers have done an incredible job managing it and helping our business succeed,” said Sebastian Mackensen, President and CEO of BMW North America. “We anticipate strong consumer demand for the remainder of the year and are closely managing inventory levels to continue our positive sales momentum. ”

BMW Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles.

BMW reported sales of certified pre-owned vehicles in the third quarter of 2021 of 26,048, down 8.7% from the same quarter last year. Year-to-date sales of BMW Certified Pre-Owned vehicles amounted to 86,563, an increase of 4.6% over the first three quarters of 2020.

MINI certified pre-owned vehicles.

MINI announced 2,691 certified pre-owned vehicle sales in the third quarter of 2021, down 0.3% from the same quarter a year ago. Year-to-date sales of MINI Certified Pre-Owned vehicles total 8802, an increase of 20.3% over the first three quarters of 2020.
