Availa Bank announced that the total amount of funds given through the Availa Foundation last year reached $307,177, bringing the total funds given since its inception to a total of $3,681,996.

The purpose of the Foundation is to provide support to local charities that serve the communities of Availa Bank branches.

In 2021, the Availa Foundation donated to 78 501(c)3 organizations. These 78 work to meet a variety of needs in Availa branch communities, including business development, health, education, food security, housing and more. For example, in the Carroll area, the Foundation has donated to the Lil’ Wildcat Education Center, the Carroll Public Library Foundation, and the New Hope Village Foundation, to name a few.

The Foundation was established in 1966 as the Carroll County State Foundation. In 1987, the Citizens State Foundation was formed to serve the needs of the Pocahontas community, later serving the Fort Dodge area as well. These two entities merged in 2017 to become the Availa Foundation which operates today. The Foundation is fully funded by Availa Bank, with the Trustees of the Foundation approving each contribution to qualifying organizations.

Availa Bank President and CEO Jeff Scharfenkamp said, “The Availa Foundation is pleased to help our local communities and the Foundation’s efforts and commitments reflect our obligation to give back to those we serve. serve.

Scharfenkamp also notes, “Many of our employees devote countless hours of their personal time to helping their communities grow and thrive as well.”
