MUNCIE, Ind. — The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc. has awarded $ 84,348.05 to nine Maxon Foundation Fund nonprofits.

The Maxon Corporation, an international manufacturer of industrial heaters, was locally owned and operated from 1916 to 2008. Today, it is part of Honeywell Corporation. From its inception, Maxon Corporation and its leaders have built a culture of giving back to the community. In 1986, the Maxon Foundation was established as a charitable arm of the company. Shortly after acquiring the company, the board of directors of the Maxon Foundation decided to partner with the Community Foundation.

The Maxon Foundation transferred its assets to the Community Foundation to establish the Maxon Foundation Fund. This fund focuses on providing grants to organizations and programs that support at-risk children and families in Delaware County. A committee of former Maxon Corporation officers and Maxon Foundation board members reviews grant applications annually. The Maxon Foundation Fund continues the charitable legacy of the Maxon family and Maxon Corporation. Since 2009, the Maxon Foundation Fund has awarded over $ 600,000 in grants to our community.
