Six dead in 987 crashes across Punjab – Latest News – The Nation
LAHORE – At least six people have been killed and 1,060 others injured in 987 road accidents across Punjab in the past 24 hours. Of this number, 599 people were seriously injured and were transferred to various hospitals. While 461 minor injuries were treated at the site of the incident by rescue medical teams, a Rescue-1122 spokesperson said on Sunday. The analysis showed that 506 drivers, 39 underage drivers, 114 pedestrians and 446 passengers were among the victims of these road accidents.
Statistics showed that 263 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 288 people placing the provincial capital at the top of the list followed by 81 in Faisalabad with 90 casualties and third in Multan with 69 accidents and 74 casualties.
According to the data, 801 motorcycles, 88 auto-rickshaws, 95 automobiles, 29 vans, 11 passenger buses, 28 trucks and 95 other types of motor vehicles and slow carts were involved in these road accidents. Meanwhile, the newborn baby was recovered from Kasur by police officers who had been abducted from Lahore General Hospital on June 9, 2022. Police say the female abductor, her husband and her facilitator have been arrested.
Speaking to the media, the Chief Superintendent of Police Investigation (SSP), Imran Kishore, said those arrested included Hafeez Aurangzeb, his wife Fouzia and facilitator Abdul Subhan. The alleged kidnapper had arrived at Lahore General Hospital at 4am with her husband.
They staged a drama to gain public sympathy for not having a child and possessed the newborn for peeking later they ran away from the hospital.
