Webinar for Caregivers of Seniors with Mental Health Issues

A positive effect of the pandemic? It sheds light on mental health issues – including anxiety, depression, addiction and other challenges – and the importance of asking for help when you need it. For caregivers of the elderly, the mental health issues of a loved one may not even be considered or may simply take a back seat to other pressing daily needs.

An upcoming online webinar will explore mental health issues and provide a forum for caregivers to discuss their particular experiences and share coping strategies to help others in a similar role. “Caring for someone with mental health issues” will take place on Tuesday, May 17 at 11 a.m. EST (10 a.m. CST) and is free to attend.

The event will be led by Elliot Montgomery Sklar, PhD, MS, and Lucy Barylak, MSW. Sklar is a public health professional and associate professor in the Department of Health Sciences at Nova Southeastern University. Barylak is a consultant in social gerontology with Santé Centre-Ouest de Montréal in Montreal, Canada.

The program is organized by the WellMed Charitable Foundation, a non-profit organization established in 2006 that offers programs for seniors and caregivers. The foundation is the philanthropic partner of WellMed Medical Management.
